How do I translate using the app?
There are two main options:
- Text: You type or paste some text in the given field, send it, and right after the virtual interpreter of Hand Talk, Hugo, translates into Sign Language.
- Audio: By clicking on the microphone icon, the app captures the ambient audio and you can speak at that moment. Shortly after speaking you can click in the button with an "X" to end the recording. If the app identifies silence after the speech, it will send the content automatically. After that, wait a few seconds and view the translation.
Do I need the internet to translate?
Yes. Your device must be connected to the internet. This is a common need for all the best machine translation systems.
Every day, several improvements and new signals are automatically inserted into the platform, so you need a connection. Otherwise, our characters, Hugo and Maya, will only use the typing (spelling) of each translated word.
How to use translation history?
It's very simple! You can access it by clicking on the icon in the form of a list, just below the translation speed control, the list with the last translations performed will be presented. To review a translation, click on the desired text and right after one of our virtual translators, Hugo or Maya, will signal the text.
To delete a sentence in your translation history, use the trash can icon at the top of the screen. If you're using an iOS device, slide your finger over the sentence to the left to see icons with these functions. If you want to delete all history, click on the trash in the top bar.
Can I share the translations from the app?
After the translation is finished, the menu below the character (Hugo or Maya) will appear. Clicking on the sharing icon, a video is going to be generated, and then you can share it on your social networks or send it to your friends, have fun!
